We learnt so much content in just 2 hours!!
Where do I even start? Perhaps a chronological order of the tips and advice given to us is the way to go...
1. LABEL YOUR VIDEOS. Although this one sounds obvious, but sometimes it's the simplest of things that we can do to make workflow more efficient. It only takes a second or two to rename the chosen videos to "hand-held cam" or "fixed cam" for example.
2. DO NOT USE PORTRAIT VIDEOS UNLESS IT IS TO BE VIEWED BY A MOBILE DEVICE. Again, another obvious one, but nevertheless, a useful tip to remember...
3. WHEN SYNCING VIDEOS, TRIM THE VIDEOS AT THE CLAP. Usually the clap is located where the waveform peaks.
4. CHANGE VIDEO TO ZERO OPACITY TO SWITCH BETWEEN ANGLES. It creates a fade effect, which transitions smoothly to the next angle shot.
5. USE GRAPHICS. Drag graphics e.g. chord diagrams onto the video timeline. Great for educational purposes such as students wishing to self-learn the guitar chords for the song by watching the video you created.
Can animate the graphics too! Just makes it more appealing and attractive to the eye doesn't it? Yes, Karaoke style animation of texts and chords!!
Speaking of animation... we can't forget the element of interactivity when creating our music resources!!
6. MAKE INTERACTIVE SLIDES, IBOOK, etc. Even creating a simple and fun multiple choice on iBooks Author can make a huge difference to student learning and engagement! I certainly remembered class content better back in Year 12, when our teacher would throw us a quick game of Kahoot at the start of the lesson! My first hand experience tells me that it is indeed extremely effective...
